Meaning

This error indicates that it was not possible to contact the DHC server on the internet.

Cause

This can be caused by the fact that the internet connection was not working, a firewall was blocking outgoing traffic, or that the server was temporarily unvavailable.

If you can not contact the DHC server you probably can not contact other computers in your network. N.B. This service is not able to pass through HTTP proxies, it is not designed to allow connecting computers on corporate networks, or complex networks, to home computers, since with out care you may cause conflicts in existing networks.

Solution

Ensure you are not connecting from a restricted network.
Retry the network connection, by testing the network, in the menu bar select, Network, Test network connection. If you still can not connect ensure that you can connect to other internet websites, then check the firewall settings.
Your firewall must permit UDP packets to the vpppn dhc servers (currently abnoctus.com) on the port 1194. On a home network you may have a firewall on the PC or on the router, usually these firewalls will not prevent outgoing traffic, but it is possible. Port 1194 is often refered to as the "openvpn" port.
